The Teaching Syllabus:

The Course is taught over six academic terms part-time,
with a syllabus taken from four course themes as follows:

Theme 1:
Analytical Psychology (Seminars and Groups) -
Unit 1: 
Analytical/Jungian psychology
Unit 2:  Psychodynamic theory (basic concepts of human
           
development through Freud, Klein, Winnicott)
Unit 3: 
Analytic Insights
Unit 4: 
Dreamwork:  Theory and Practice
Unit 5:  A Critique of Analytical Psychology & Healing


Theme 2:
Holistic & Spiritual Healing (Workshops) -
Unit 1: 
Theory and Practice
Unit 2:  Healing and Life-stages
Unit 3:  Complementary approaches
Unit 4:  Self-help approaches


Theme 3:
Case Management -
Unit 1: 
Fundamentals
Unit 2:  Boundaries and Dynamics
Unit 3:  Placement/Client work


Theme 4:
Personal Development -
Unit 1: 
Personal therapy (1 hour weekly)
Unit 2:  Client supervision (as part of regular syllabus)
Unit 3:  Portfolio:  created and kept by each student
            throughout the course.

Validations:

The course is validated by
Middlesex University with a value of 180 International Credits for the
MA, 120 for the PGDip.

In addition, the course is validated by the Institute for Complementary Medicine and British Register.
Graduates are eligible to apply to the Psychotherapy & Counselling
Division of the ICM when they have graduated, to Register their practice. Membership of the BACP is also encouraged.  UKCP Registration is in process.

Career Development:

Our students and graduates have applied course teaching in a variety of settings including mainstream health services and private practice. 

Helping each student to develop their individual interests is an important part of the course.  This includes practical guidance on business management, producing personal leaflets; fees, running workshops and groups; private practice,  networking and outreach.

Support is also given after graduation, on career development and related issues, including clinical discussion and Continuing Professional Development, through Membership of the Society.
